This research aims at finding out whether teaching material could be
effective in improving teachers’ knowledge about ecosystem. R & D has been
chosen by involving 70 teachers in Jakarta city as sample which was selected
randomly. There were two groups that have been determined, one group was a
group of teacher which has been reading an teaching material and other group of
teacher as a control group. Teachers knowledge has been tested by developing
true-false test (36 items and only 28 items was valid with reliability of 0.901). Data
has been analyzed by applying descriptive statistics and t-test for verifying it’s
differences and effectiveness of the product. Research results showed that there
was an effective and significant improvement of teachers’ knowledge after they
learned those teaching material. Therefore, even though their statuses are as
teacher, but they have a serious interest in reading and comprehending the material
teacher as a product. This is one of the ways on how to change teachers
knowledge and expecting changes in their attitudes toward environment which in
the end, they would be more positive in their pro-environmental behavior.
